Interview With Author Larry Vaughn

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.

Hi, I’m Larry Vaughn — a husband, father, grandfather, and storyteller with a heart for faith, freedom, and the timeless truths that shaped America. For years, I’ve been inspired to share messages that encourage and uplift, and that’s what led me to write three Christian nonfiction books.

My wife, Marie, and I have been married for fifty-eight wonderful years, and we enjoy the quiet beauty of life together on our farm in Tennessee.

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?

My newest book, The Good, The Bad, & The Hope We Have, is especially close to my heart. It’s a collection of powerful quotes and reflections meant to remind us who we are as a nation and where our true hope lies.

I’m inspired by the wisdom, the eloquence, and the bravery of the Founding Fathers. I’m presenting their quotes, and saying “Hey, look at this!”

Do you have any unusual writing habits?

I get up very early in the morning and write for about four hours everyday.

What authors, or books have influenced you?

Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams, James Madison, Charlie Kirk, Mark Levin

What are you working on now?

I’ve completed the first draft of my novel, and I’m trying to finish it this year.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?

I’m still working on finding the answer to that question.

Do you have any advice for new authors?

When you start a new project, don’t try to make it perfect as you’re writing it. Just get it all written down. Then come back and rewrite it.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.”

What are you reading now?

Right Wing Revolution by Charlie Kirk

What’s next for you as a writer?

To finish my novel and self-publish it.

If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring?

The Bible, The Norton Anthology of English Literature, Robinson Crusoe
