The words “Equal Treatment Under The Law” are written in stone at the front entrance of the United States Supreme Court Building. They were derived from the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, ratified in 1868, which states: “No State shall… deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”
This concept originated with the Founding Fathers of the United States. Look closely at what Benjamin Franklin said about it:
“The ordaining of laws in favor of one part of the nation, to the prejudice and oppression of another, is certainly the most erroneous and mistaken policy. An equal dispensation of protection, rights, privileges, and advantages, is what each part is entitled to, and ought to enjoy.”
This is the very essence of Americanism.
